The flight to Nairobi was late due to some extra checking at Delhi because of Independence day coming up. Spent time at the lounge and then some snacks. With 1 hour delay, six and half hours of flight and total of twelve hours since leaving home, the distance travelled was 5820 Kms.
As my flight traveled towards the enchanting land a delicate layer of dew blankets the earth, reflecting the golden hues of the sun as it begins its descend. Each droplet acts as a prism, capturing and refracting light in a dazzling display. The ground below, shows an arid landscape. Heavily cloud covered skies below me, storms as we crossed the clouds to land, but finally open plains and landscapes of many shades of green, amber, and gold.
The seat next to me was empty and the leg room was good… So I thankfully slept through most of the flight.
At the airport the immigration was swift but the baggage was late as usual. Also they have an extra layer of security to scan all baggages after you pick them at customs gate.
When I landed in JKIA, I was tired of the overall journey but the bustling city has an air that carries with it the promise of a new day and the nostalgia of the days gone by planning..
The taxi drivers line up at the gate trying to make a buck or two extra from whoever they can catch. The Yellow cabs (state taxi) was there but like a racket none of them were to go. Finally having a quite smoke break got a seemingly Decent guy “Daniel” who took me to the hotel for the right price. The hotel is nice but seemed to be in a not so nice place. Daniel patiently explained that the area is developing and all is fine. (checkout the dark video). The people seem courteous atleast..
The beauty of a wildlife safari lies not just in the transition it represents, but in the gentle symphony of nature that it brings. I chose to travel in the month of August as the journey of animals is at peak in during this time of the year and the nature dons its most majestic attire, presenting a breathtaking spectacle for anyone willing to stop and see.
Had a quick bite to eat and now off for a good night rest… The Safari tour operator is meeting me in the morning with the guide.
I am here.. finally ready for the wishful adventure of a lifetime.
