Its been drizzling since we arrived at Holfn and today morning was no different. This was the furthest point on the Route 1 for us. We left the hotel after breakfast (cold hot dog Indian style) and headed back on same route.
As we crossed the diamond beach once again we turned the car there as it was pulling us like a magnet. It was amazing being there again as huge icebergs had washed on the shore. We also found a phone on the beach and after a lot of coordinating with the owner of the phone, who was an Italian, we could return the phone to Mario and the smile he gave was worth the effort.

While waiting for Mario to catch up along the Route 1, I noticed that the scenery on the ground was like a desktop image. Took some pics of the moss with flowers and wild berries.
As usual the scenic drive compelled us to make several stops to capture the beauty. One of these stops the whole landscape was so well planned like it has been designed by some great horticulture specialist, well it is.. by nature itself !! The combination of different autumn colours along with the glacier in the background was breathtaking and we have no idea how many pictures we clicked.
The next stop ‘Glacier horses’ was meeting these farm horses against the Vaitnajokull glacier. Speaking of that this glacier is the second largest glacier in the world with 7900 Sq Km as the size. The horses are smaller in size as compared to our horses and have hair on head and neck. They look funny and cute at the same time.

Next was again a famous fall called Svartifoss. Its like any other fall but what makes it different is that it is surrounded by the basalt columns which are formed by heating and cooling of lava. The trek to the fall was wonderful in itself and you fall in love with Iceland all over again.
After trekking down from the fall, we had camp style lunch (cooked and served in the car) we headed back to hunt for the canyon which was famous for its beauty and recently more for a video shoot by Justin Bieber. The trek to canyon was steep and tiring but the view above was worth the effort. The water flows deep down between two mountains which are completely covered with lava moss. Its again a picture out of an artist’s imagination.

Now that we have seen almost every colour of lava moss we decided to avoid the pit stop called lava moss walk as anyway it was raining.
Getting your car filled and running is another challenge in iceland. You don’t get petrol for miles so you need to be properly planned and paranoid about your car being high on gas. We stopped at N1 station to get petrol and made a quick round of the huge showroom of iceland wear. Bought some souvenirs and after a small visit to kronan store headed towards the hotel.
Hotel burfell is on mountains and the location is beautiful. Hunting again the aurora but clouds love us too much to let us see anything else. After having bharpet dinner at the hotel we decided to call it a day.
